Consultant |
Clay
Bigler is a Settlement Consultant for the McNay Settlement Group Inc.
Bigler
previously served as Director of Operations and Technology Manager for
the Richmond, Kentucky Structured Settlement Company.
In
his current position, as Settlement Consultant he takes his past
experiences and broad knowledge of the business to provide complete
solutions for our clients.
“Clay
has tremendous experience in three vital areas: finance, administration,
and technology.” said Don McNay, President of McNay Settlement Group
Inc. “He has developed several projects that allowed us to better
serve our clients. He has great leadership skills and is a tremendous
instructor.”
Bigler, a native of New Orleans, has a long family tradition in the
financial services industry. His late father, Henry Bigler, was a former
officer in the American Banking Association and his wife Gena Lewis is
one of the nation’s most successful structured settlement consultants.
“Clay grew up in the
banking and finance industries,” said Lewis. “ However, his academic
background was in Computer Science and English. He has a broad base of
influences and experiences.”
“My late father’s
influence is one that will remain with me for the rest of my life,”
said Bigler. “He was a tremendous leader and innovator in the banking
industry. He taught me the value of service over a strict focus on
profits.”
Although
Bigler has spent most of his career in the financial services or
technology sector, he spent a considerable amount of time in the not for
profit area. Bigler spent
two years as an Americorps volunteer in Lexington, Ky. and Canaan,
Vermont. He also worked at the University of Kentucky and has been
active in programs that combat domestic violence.
“He
was able to take a very limited budget, old computers and students in a
remote area and do amazing things,” said Lewis. “ He had a lasting
impact on the school system and every child who is taught there. The
school administrators and students appreciated his talents.
Bigler
skills are not just related to personal finance and technology. “
His upbringing in New Orleans gave him a unique perspective on the
world,” said Lewis. “ He is a gourmet chef, well mannered, well
read, has a tremendous appreciation for culture and the arts, yet he has
rebuilt car engines from scratch and loves to do remodeling and
construction work. He may be well bred with a taste for the finer things
in life but he is the first person family and friends call to help fix
things.”
As technology manager, he oversaw all technological operations and he
developed the company’s technology training and systems. In his role
as Director of Operations, Bigler developed one of the best systems in
the United States for implementing Qualified Settlements funds and
Supplemental Needs Trusts for injury victims.
He helped to make a complex process simple and easy to
understand. This ability to explain complex financial strategies in a
simple way will serve him well as a Settlement Consultant.

“Luhys showed tremendous leadership skill in her position as Medical Director and has a genius for administration,” said McNay. “I feel confidant that she will allow the organization to maintain the rapid rate of growth that we have achieved in recent years.”
“McNay Settlement Group has
built up a tremendous reputation for innovative, excellence and
integrity over its 20 year history,” said Luhys.
“ I plan to build upon that record and develop programs that
will allow us to serve our clients better.”
Angela’s unique qualifications as Medical Director for McNay Settlement Group made it difficult for the organization to consider moving her to another position and the decision was finally made to allow her to serve in a dual role.
Luhys, a graduate of the Northeastern School of Botanical Medicine in Ithaca, New York, is the only herbalist worldwide to serve to serve as a medical consultant in the complex structured settlement field.
In
her role as Medical Director, Luhys studies the medical history of
injured people who can receive structured settlement payments. She looks
for factors that effect life expectancy and works with structured
settlement company actuaries and medical directors to achieve the
highest lifetime rate of return for McNay’s clients.
“With delegation and good office management skills, I will be able to maintain the dual role”, said Luhys.
Luhyss extensive knowledge of the relationship between
traditional and alternative medicines and her ability to digest complex medical
information allows her to serve in a role traditionally limited to physicians.

Recently,
Ms.Luhys has been able to increase a severely injured womans lifetime return by
$400,000 by pointing out factors that insurance company medical directors overlooked on a
first reading, said Don McNay. Since we have access to almost every financial
institution that offer structured settlements, we
can use Angelas medical reports to
negotiate outstanding rates of return when our competitors cannot.
Angelas
lifelong education in herbalism stems from
her Appalachian roots but includes experiences gained from
a wide variety of real life
applications. Combining her work with distressed adolescents and adults, her
constant presence at herbal conferences nationwide and daily study and use of herbal
remedies gives Luhys a well grounded practical grounding to
balance her academic research.
Luhys, a Hyden, Kentucky native, is a graduate of the exclusive Northeastern School of Botanical Medicine in Ithaca, New
York. She is the mother of Abijah Luhys,
who serves as Director of Infant and Childhood Development for McNay
Settlement Group Inc.
